How to Prepare for a Business Liquidation

Work backwards from the lease-end date and the rest of the plan writes itself.

Start With the Deadline

The lease-end or turnover date is the fixed point. Everything else — auction dates, buyer pickups, removal days and final cleanout — schedules backwards from it, with buffer built in for the items nobody buys.

Inventory Before You Sell

Photograph and list every asset with dimensions and condition. That list becomes your auction listing, your buyer communication and your mover's scope document all at once, and it prevents the classic problem of selling an item that turns out to be bolted to the building.

Sequencing the Removal

Clear the pieces that block the path first, then work zone by zone toward the exit. Multiple buyers picking up on different days is normal — group pickups into as few days as possible and keep the loading area accessible throughout.

Landlord and Building Requirements

Most commercial landlords require insurance certificates, dock or elevator reservations and specific hours for removal work. Ask for those requirements in writing early. Our business liquidation moving service handles removals, buyer deliveries and consolidation.
